Sausalito

On this recent project we provided the owners with an updated building exterior and helped them gain additional interior space. The existing wood shingle siding was replaced by a rainscreen system that featured Swisspearl concrete panels and Ipe siding, and by integral-color Parex stucco. The result is a pleasing, contemporary, low-maintenance residence.

Replacing the windows and exterior doors was a key priority to take advantage of exceptional views of the San Francisco Bay. To capture these views while providing stunning architectural detail we replaced  the home's existing windows and doors with custom anodized aluminum units from Bonelli, a local high-end manufacturer.

The design features a two-story aluminum and glass assembly enclosing a stainless steel staircase topped by a living roof. FR James worked closely with the owner/architect to develop and detail many important elements of the project, particularly the architectural metals all of which were installed by our craftsmen. FR James also installed stainless steel cable railing at both decks. At the interior we installed wood ceiling grills, caseless doors, and new finishes for a ground-floor suite.
